Automated Compound-Independent Calibration reports for the Agilent GC-AED ChemStation

Overview

Compound Independent Calibration (CIC) allows an elemental response factor to be applied to an entire chromatogram. For example, a sulfur calibration can be applied to a range of analytes in a sulfur chromatogram. This technique allows rapid quantitative evaluation of complex samples without elaborate calibration requirements. CIC has proven to have wide application for many elements and sample matrices. To date, the calculations required for CIC analysis were not easily performed on ChemStations or other data stations. Most CIC calculations have been performed post-run in Excel macros. The Agilent GC-AED ChemStation now allows CIC calculations to be performed from an interactive series of menu choices. This enhancement to the AED ChemStation allows fully automated CIC calculation results from ChemStation sequences in real-time for a series of samples. The automation capability can also be used from the Data Analysis View. Exporting data to Excel or time-consuming menu interaction is no longer required for CIC results.
